The declining trend in the ifo Business Climate has stopped. The index held steady at 102.2 points, after having fallen five months in succession. The very good current business situation improved slightly, but the optimistic expectations weakened slightly. The German economy is performing well in a difficult international situation.

Munich Economic Summit 2018: Reshaping Europe
The Summit 2018 covers issues spanning the role and competitiveness of Europe in a new world order, the implications of Brexit, migration and digitalisation, the stability of the financial sector, populist and authoritarian tendencies, as well as European Economic and Monetary Union. The Summit 2018 will take place on 4 and 5 July at the BMW Welt in Munich.

The deadlines for submissions of papers for two area conferences are approaching. The call for papers for the Conference on Energy and Climate Economics ends on Friday 3 July. Two weeks later on 15 July the Conference on Behavioural Economics closes its doors for paper submissions. All CESifo Research Network members are invited to submit their papers. 9th ifo Conference on "Macroeconomics and Survey Data"
In December, the ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys will organise a conference in Munich on “Macroeconomics and Survey Data”. The conference is intended to discuss ongoing research on survey and micro data and its role and usage in macroeconomics. PhD in Management and Economics at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano
The 4-year full-time PhD programme at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano combines methodological and theoretical courses with additional individualized training as recommended by the supervisor depending on the specific research interests and objectives of the PhD student. Topic-specific individual tutoring and mentoring, as well as funding for research stays abroad are among the special components of our programme. Scholarships are available (17.000 € per year).
