FEATURED PAPER

Why Do Wealthy Parents Have Wealthy Children?
Why do the children of wealthy parents tend to be well off themselves? In their recent CESifo Working Paper network members Andreas Fagereng, Magne Mogstad, and Marte Rønning contribute to this open question by taking a close look at the role of family background in determining children’s accumulation of wealth and investor behaviour as adults. This EEAG Column analyses past and possible future exceptions to the rule that all European states and their citizens participate equally in a single integration process.
