Oliver Falck
Oliver Falck has done a fantastic job of leading CESifo for the past couple of years, so that every time the spectre was raised that he might be accepting one of the many irresistible offers coming his way, we were full of trepidation. And, as it was bound to happen, he finally accepted one. Luckily, it is in-house, so to say. Our sister organisation, the Ifo Institute, needed a bright intellect to lead its Industrial Organisation and New Technologies Centre. With Oliver's expertise in innovation, he was the perfect match. Now the centre is going to add "and Innovation" to its name, and Oliver to its roster. He'll be wearing two hats, though: he will continue as CESifo Programme Director. A toast to that.
And, as usual, CES, Ifo and CESifo are busily hosting guest researchers from around the world, this time from the USA, Switzerland, Australia and the UK. Learn a bit about what they are working on, and about who they are:
- Marc Auboin, World Trade Organization, will be visiting CESifo from 8 August to 22 August 2014
- Lucas Bretschger, ETH Zurich, will be visiting CESifo from 25 August to 29 August 2014
- David Huffman, University of Oxford, will be visiting CES from 24 August to 31 August 2014
- Wolfgang Keller, University of Colorado at Boulder , will be visiting CESifo from 1 July 31 December 2014
- Andreas Leibbrandt, Monash University, will be visiting CES from 14 August to 15 October 2014
- Friederike Niepmann,Federal Reserve Bank of New York, will be visiting CESifo from 11 August to 22 August 2014
- Matthew D. Rablen, Brunel University London, will be visiting CES from 1 August to 14 August 2014
- Carol H. Shiue, University of Colorado at Boulder, will be visiting from 1 July to 31 December 2014
