Each year, the Society for the Promotion of Economic Research (Friends of the ifo Institute) e.V. presents this award for outstanding academic achievements in the field of empirical economic research. It goes to all young researchers who succeed in publishing an article in one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed journals. The ifo Institute’s Scientific Advisory Board supported the development of this award, and the Society supports the ifo Outstanding Publication Award with both ideas and finance.

Award for Special Achievements in Third-Party Funded Research

The 2022 award for special achievements in third-party funded research was presented to the project „Geopolitische Herausforderungen und ihre Folgen für das deutsche Wirtschaftsmodell“. The ifo Center for International was in charge of preparing the report, supported by the Executive Department. The following researchers were involved in the study: Prof. Lisandra Flach, Lisa Scheckenhofer, and Dr. Florian Dorn.

This award is presented to projects that are particularly distinguished by a acknowledged quality of content. The work must have been completed in the past financial year, within the set deadlines and budget.

Special Prize

In 2022, the ifo Institute's Executive Board again awarded a special prize to thank the team in the Research Services for their great commitment.

The awards were presented during the public portion of the ifo Annual Meeting on June 29, 2023 by Prof. Roland Berger, Chair of the Society for the Promotion of Economic Research, Prof. Veronika Grimm, Deputy Chair of the ifo Institute’s Scientific Advisory Board, and Prof. Clemens Fuest, President of the ifo Institute.
