Oliver Falck: Prize for Economic Research

CESifo was doubly honoured at this year's Ifo Annual Meeting. First, CESifo Programme Director Oliver Falck (pictured with Heinrich Ursprung and Roland Berger) was distinguished with the Prize for academic research awarded by the Society for the Promotion of Economic Research for his outstanding paper "E-lections: Voting Behavior and the Internet",which was published by the American Economic Review.

The paper has attracted a great deal of attention, and Heinrich Ursprung, the chairman of the Society, made a comprehensive review of the significance and content of the paper in his laudation.

The second distinction was for CESifo's 15 years of unswerving support for the Ifo Institute and was awarded to the entire CESifo team. With only about four full-time and five part-time people plus a couple of student assistants, CESifo organises close to 30 conferences and seminars per year, runs the 1,200-strong CESifo international Research Network, administers the CESifo Working Paper series and the book series with MIT Press, and of course writes and publishes your most favourite newsletter. Deirdre Weber and Julio Saavedra (pictured) accepted the prize on behalf of the whole team.
