CESifo Partners: Partner Institutions

CESifo Partners

As the international platform for the Ifo Institute for Economic Research and the Center for Economic Studies, CESifo has entered into mutually beneficial partnerships with leading academic institutions, media companies and foundations. Following is a brief description of some of CESifo's main partners.

		Athens University of Economics and Business CESifo and the Department of International and European Economic Studies of Athens University of Economics and Business run a joint conference series on issues of economic policy. Annual conferences are held alternately in Munich and Delphi. The last meeting of this series was held in Delphi in December 2003.

		BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt In co-operation with the BMW Stiftung Herbert Quandt, the foundation of the BMW AG, CESifo organises the annual Munich Economic Summit. The BMW Stiftung Herbert Quandt focuses its activities on promoting international dialog between business, politics and science to foster mutual understanding. Besides the joint Munich Economic Summit, the foundation organises a number of high-ranked conferences, workshops, roundtables and lectures.

		Deutsche Welle Deutsche Welle and the Ifo Institute co-operate in the area of economic reporting, focusing on the international presentation of the Ifo Institute's World Economic Survey, a world-wide poll of experts who report on the state of the economy in their countries of residence and their expectations regarding these countries' economic prospects. Deutsche Welle TV will broadcast regularly the results of the World Economic Survey in its economic and business news. The ifo Institute will provide the data and their interpretation in German and English. Co-operation in other areas is planned as well.

		CESifo and the MIT Press cooperate closely in diverse book projects. These cover the Munich Lecture Series, where each year's Distinguished CES Fellow publishes a lecture, a Seminar Book Series, in which the proceedings of selected conferences are recorded, and the CESifo Book Series, devoted to the findings of projects in which external researchers work together on specific topics with a CESifo in-house researcher.

		S�ddeutsche Zeitung, one of Germany's leading national newspapers, has joined CESifo as host of the M�nchner Seminare (Munich Seminar) Series. The seminars are jointly chaired by Hans-Werner Sinn and Nikolaus Piper, Chief Editor (Economics) for the S�ddeutsche Zeitung. The lectures presented by academics, bankers and industrialists are policy oriented and are directed at a wide audience, with reports on the lectures being published in the Finance Section of the S�ddeutsche Zeitung.

		Venice International University is an association made up of six universities. One of the partner universities is Ludwig-Maximilians Universit�t. CESifo's annual Venice Summer Institute is held at the Venice International University campus on the island of San Servolo, just off the Piazza San Marco.

		Yrj�-Jahnsson Foundation The Helsinki-based Foundation is dedicated to the promotion of economic research and education. The Foundation and CESifo jointly organise conferences on pressing European economic issues such as the operation of the monetary union, the alleviation of unemployment, and the design of a European constitution.
