The CESifo Group, consisting of the Center for Economic Studies (CES) of the Economics Department at Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich, the Ifo Institute for Economic Research and CESifo, their jointly owned subsidiary, forms a research co-operative which is unique in Germany. Within its international research network, comprising over 400 economists, the CESifo Group strives to combine excellent theoretical and applied economic research and to utilise it for high-level well-founded policy consulting. CESifo conducts international conferences with outstanding economists, publishes and distributes one of the world's largest discussion paper series in economics, the CESifo Working Paper Series, and publishes several book series in collaboration with MIT Press.
The integrated graduate programme (Graduate Integrated Programmes – GRIPS) of the Center for Economic Studies (CES) and the Ifo Institute is designed for qualified young economists. Depending on their individual interests, the doctoral students can be given positions at CES, with its university orientation, or at the empirically oriented Ifo Institute.
The university and the Ifo Institute are intent on raising the share of women in economics and invite applications from women in particular. Given equal qualifications, handicapped applicants will be given preference.
