Prize for Academic Research Awarded by the Friends of the Ifo Institute
As recognition and incentive for high-quality research, the Friends of the Ifo Institute society award an annual prize for academic research. The requirement is publication in a scholarly journal with a peer review process.
In 2006 the prize goes to:
Dr. Wolfgang Ochel for the contribution "Unemployment in the OECD since the 1960s. What do We Know?" (with Stephen Nickell and Luca Nunziata), published in The Economic Journal 115 (500), 2005, 01-27.
Prize for outstanding success in the management of contract studies
This year the prize of the Ifo Institute for success in the management of contract-research projects was not awarded.
Special prizes
Some staff members again received special prizes. For their commitment during the preparation of the evaluation, monetary awards were given to Christina Birnbaum, Wolfgang Fehlner, Dr. Robert Koll, Dr. Paul Kremmel, Manfred Liedtke, Matthias Mühlburger, Gerhard Niedermeier, Julio Saavedra, Jasmine Tschauth, Elsita Walter, Klaus Wohlrabe and Markus Zimmer. The outstanding presentation of the Ifo Institute and the smooth organisation of the evaluation is largely to their credit. Finally, Prof. Sinn acknowledged the outstanding work of Meinhard Knoche, member of the Executive Board, in the many months of meticulous preparation for the evaluation.
