The 58th Annual Meeting of Ifo Institute for Economic Research at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich took place on Monday, 25 Juny 2007. The public part began at 14 hrs. in the Large Auditorium of the Munich Ludwig Maximilian University (Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1, Munich).
Guest speaker at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Ifo Institute will be Peer Steinbrück, Federal Minister of Finance. A panel discussion on innovation and production in Germany will include Roland Berger, Manfred Bischoff, Klaus Regling and Hans-Werner Sinn.

The prizes are awarded by Prof. Dr. h.c. Roland Berger, chairperson of the Friends of the Ifo Institute, Prof. Dr. Karlhans Sauernheimer, deputy chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Council, and Hans-Werner Sinn, President of the Ifo Institute.
As recognition and incentive for high-quality research, the Friends of the Ifo Institute society award an annual prize for academic research. The requirement is publication in a scholarly journal with a peer review process.
In 2007 the prize goes to:
Prof. Dr. Thiess Büttner for the contributions "The Incentive Effect of Fiscal Equalization Transfers on Tax Policy", published in Journal of Public Economics 90, 2006, 477-497 (Abstract), and "The dynamics of municipal fiscal adjustment" (with David Wildasin), published in Journal of Public Economics 90, 2006, 1115-1132 (Abstract).
