title>Water - a substantial location factor for the Bavarian economy
In this research project the importance of the natural resource water as location factor for the Bavarian economy and the water industry is examined under the boundary conditions of climate change, demographic development and globalization. Climate change will clearly affect the regional availability of water. The individual regions of Germany will be differently concerned. Apart from an increase of the average temperature, an increase of the number of the summer days and an extension of the vegetation periods, the precipitation will shift and there will be longer drought periods on the one hand and more floods on the other hand as well as an increase of further extreme weather events like increased storm tides at the North Sea Coast. It is to be expected that the heating up fails near the coast and in the mountain country smaller than in the Federal average. The coastal region is threatened against it by flood events, in the mountain country the snow border will shift upward. In south and west Germany more floods are expected, while the east of Germany will be exposed more strongly to the danger of droughts.
Surveys on literature, primary and secondary statistics, interviews with experts of the water sector.
