The task of this study was to calculate the direct and indirect economic production and employment impact of the Leipzig trade fairs as well as the tax revenue that results from the fairs for 2002 and a representative trade-fair year based on total spending of exhibitors and visitors. The calculation of the direct and indirect effects is made with an estimation model based above all on the visitor and exhibitor structure as well as individual cost items (for example, accommodation, stand construction).
