Due to declining population and an aging society it is also assumed that economic growth in Saxony and the new federal states as a whole is subdued. Against this background, the project examines the impact of these developments for selected population groups. Particularly for the future generations of pensioners, a worsening of the economic situation is feared. In particular, the statutory pension claims are declining. Since many retirees continue to derive the major share of their retirement income from the statutory pension scheme, the old-age poverty will become an increasing problem. The study will examined the associated individual risks and fiscal burdens to forecast the situation for future pensioners.
