The project team analysed indicators that inform about the quality of Saxony and the new fedeal states as a business location. One aspect of the study is an examination of the changes in the human capital stock. Education and knowledge as determinants of human capital, have a significant influence on competition, because they strongly correlate with innovation activities. Numerous studies demonstrate the central importance of innovation and operational activities for the improvement of competitiveness. From the study policy recommendations will be derived, in particular with reference to the attractiveness of the easterst German and Saxon sites for business relocations.
