The focus of the project is the continuous monitoring of the economy and the economic development in the new Länder. Within the framework of these activities, twice a year Ifo Dresden releases a GDP and employment forecast for the Free State of Saxony and the new federal states as a whole. It also takes the impact of demographic change into account. The outlook for eastern Germany and Saxony are experts in the economic framework of the working group presented and discussed and than in a press interview published. The Ifo Business Climate for Saxony and Eastern Germany is an important leading indicator for economic developments. The climate indicator for Saxony is published by the Saxon Ministry of Economic Affairs and Labour and the Sächsische Zeitung.
