The pilot project “Pig Producers” will initiate a regular registration and documentation of the situation and the planned or emerging changes at the level of animal farming. After a successful pilot phase, an extension of the survey concept to the major provider countries of pork that compete with German producers in the EU is planned, i.e. the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. This will facilitate assessments of the competition conditions prevailing in the European market from the viewpoint of different nations including the laws of environmental and animal protection, the organisational aspects of pig production and sales, and aspects of quality production and control.
Online survey. Interested participants can obtain further information and an application form (German, PDF, 94 KB) on the information brochure.
Survey data
In addition to the economic aspects of pig production (assessments of the current situation, expectations, as well as the relevant performance-influencing factors or general conditions of animal farming), the business strategies and motivating factors will be registered. A special emphasis will be placed on the current organisational and production-technological conversion processes that are currently being carried out for environmental and animal-protection reasons as well as for reasons of quality assurance and transparency with regard to farm products.
Articles in ifo Schnelldienst and agricultural journals, presentation of results to participating farm managers (only online), detailed results for interested enterprises in the agro-industrial environment, for federations and organisations.
