Ifo proposes to establish a new Center of Excellence for Migration and Integration Research (CEMIR). It will combine expertise from different institutions, different countries, and hitherto often separated fields in economics. It will be set up as the node of a lasting network with the goal of providing public goods to the research and policy communities in the form of analysis, data, policy briefs, workshops, conferences, the education of young academics and a new integrated assessment model. It aims at achieving a lasting impact on the German and European policy debates.
We approach the topic theoretically and empirically, drawing on expertise from labor market economists, public economists, education economists and globalization researchers.
