As the completion of a long-lasting project which comprised the establishment and development of capacities for empirical economic research at the ERI Institute in Almaty, a self-contained business cycle forecasting "standard handbook", adjusted for transition countries, will be produced in co-operation with the partner institute. This tool will contribute to preserving the project's co-operative work and would find uses beyond the institute's undertakings. The methodology contained therein could, for instance, be included in university curricula as well as serve as basis for further training for relevant public officers, such as Ministry of the Economy officials.
