The Project aims to isolate the economic conditions under which privatization in selected network industries is successful. Besides the general problem of why governments actually choose a privatization policy, the project will mainly focus on questions concerning the gas and electricity industry. One additional point will be to assess how national regulatory interests accord or conflict with EU liberalization policies and what kind of EU harmonization will be necessary.
