The main focus of this project will be the ifo "Innovationstest", an innovation survey of the ifo Institute. With exploiting this rich and detailed innovation data set this study can contribute to the current research in the field of innovation and growth. The panel structure of the ifo "Innovationstest" with its long observation period of more than 20 years is a big advantage over most of the data sets used so far.
The project should mainly concentrate on several major issues: First, the causal relationship between innovation and export behavior will be investigated. The second main issue is the effect of innovation on the growth of employment and turnover. Moreover the determinants of innovation are analysed. Potential determinants are regional knowledge spillovers, clusters and innovation policies.
