Based on previous very successful research projects done by Ludger Woessmann in cooperation with the Ifo research professors Sascha O. Becker and Eric A. Hanushek, an international empirical research centre examining the effects of education on longterm economic development is supposed to be established within the department Human Capital and Innovation during the project period. The research focuses on county-level data form 19th Century Prussia before and after the Industrial Revolution and on modern international student assessment data including the set up of new data bases. It is planned to launch an international network of Economists of Education.
