In continuation of the project from 2001 and 2002, the present development of the German building equipment sector was studied. For this purpose the important market data, for example the number of enterprises, turnover, employees, investments, has been collected. In 2002 the building equipment sector comprised 50,000 enterprises with 470,000 employees. The consolidated turnover amounted to around EUR 35.4 billion. At present the economic prospects of the building equipment sector are depressed.The main reason is the decreasing construction investments expected in the coming years. Positive impacts arise from the growing need for replacement of heating and sanitation devices. Additional the turnover of the German building equipment sector war compared with the corresponding data from Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Spain and Switzerland. The publication will be taken over by the commissioning institutions.
