The project’s goal is an economic and econometric analysis of the interdependence of entrepreneurial innovation activities. Both R&D spending as well as innovations themselves do not occur independently of other enterprises. The reasons for this interdependence in entrepreneurial innovation activity lie in the networking with other enterprises with regard to delivery as well as in the competition with other enterprises. The project provides an integrated analysis of spillovers from input-output relationships and those on the basis of the competition with other enterprises. This integrated approach will furnish initial insights into the relative importance of these two aspects.
The data used in this project is a large firm-level data-base provided by the German Statistical Office. The methods applied will draw on spatial econometric techniques. In particular, such techniques allow for an analysis of interdependent observations in the cross-sectional dimension (in this project, firms).
