On 16 February 2004, the European Economic Advisory Group at CESifo presented its third report: ”Report on the European Economy 2004” at a press conference in Brussels and at press conferences in major European cities. (List of press conferences)
In addition to an executive summary and a European economic forecast with special emphasis on the need to reform the Stability and Growth Pact, the Group again addressed several important policy issues. Among these were the reform of labour markets and pay-setting systems in Europe as well as the anti-discrimination clauses of the EU constitution. Special attention was given to the economic implications of EU enlargement for both the new and the existing member countries.
