Conference on

Health and Economic Policy

Call for Abstracts

On 27-28 June 2003, CESifo will organise a conference in Munich on issues of health policy. The scientific organisers are Robert Fogel (Chicago) and John Komlos

(Munich).

The conference is intended to give an overview of the current research in Health Economics. Researchers working in this field are invited to submit proposals. In particular, policy-oriented papers on the following topics are welcome:

  • The effect of public policy on health at either the individual or the population level without geographic or temporal limitations.
  • Feedback effects from health outcomes to economic growth in transition and less developed countries.
  • The measurement of health and the determinants of health.
  • Forecasting supply and demand for health as well as demographic outcomes in an ageing population, and their policy implications for OECD countries.
  • The role of health in the persistence of poverty traps.
  • Health, inequality, and the quality of life among children and adults.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 1 June 2002. Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit the full papers no later than 1 March 2003. Contact John Komlos for further details. Authors of submitted papers will be notified no later than 1 April 2003 whether their paper has been accepted for the conference.
