Tasks
The ICT infrastructure has revolutionised the worldwide exchange of new ideas, scientific findings and applications through the rapid spread of information and communication. The exchange made possible by the ICT infrastructure has enabled not only a better use of available knowledge but also, with incomparably faster communication of knowledge, contributes to new findings and thus to an expansion of knowledge. In modern economic growth theory, knowledge generation is regarded as the key source of long-term economic growth. In addition to the transaction-cost aspect of the ICT infrastructure, knowledge generation and thus also the innovation aspect become increasingly important. The goal of the project is to analyse the growth effects of a broad-band infrastructure empirically.
Methods
The project is designed empirically. It covers the OECD countries.
