Professor Hans-Werner Sinn is one of Germany’s most influential economists. He is President of the Ifo Institute and Professor of Economics and Public Finance at the University of Munich. As President of a Leibniz Association institute, both he and the institute he heads are responsible for identifying key policy issues and providing the public with relevant scientifically-based information, with the goal of contributing to sound policy-making and bringing objectivity to public discussion. On behalf of the Ifo Institute, Professor Sinn has made many important contributions to public debate over questions ranging from the national, such as the malaise affecting Germany during its long slump, through pan-European ones such as the Target balances and the euro crisis, to global ones such as the financial crisis and the climate-influencing green paradox.

In January 2002 freshly minted euro notes were distributed, amidst high hopes, among the members of the newly created Eurozone. Today, just ten years later, the euro project is in the throes of a major crisis. What began as a European peace project has led to dispute and discontent that can only be held in check by heavy borrowing from the savings accounts of citizens of the Eurozone’s core countries. read on "Die Target-Falle" ("The Target Trap") by Hans-Werner Sinn
Hans-Werner Sinn explains how the financial system became a casino for gamblers and analyses the reasons for the crisis: the failings of the rating agencies, the regulating authorities and the banks. He points out the flaws in the economic rescue packages and presents a master plan for the reform of financial markets.
The book "Kasino-Kapitalismus. Wie es zur Finanzkrise kam, und was jetzt zu tun ist" von Hans-Werner Sinn was published in 2009 (Econ), the revised paperback edition followed 2010 (Ullstein).
The updated and revised English edition "Casino Capitalism. How the Financial Crisis Came About and What Needs to be Done Now" was published by Oxford University Press in August 2010.
The English edition was translated into Korean and published in autumn 2010 by Ecopia in Seoul. read on Books on Casino Capitalism
