Sep 10, 2014: Ifo President Hans-Werner Sinn is Germany’s most influential economist, according to the latest ranking by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. “No other economist in Germany has such a strong media and political presence and is also active in research,” writes the newspaper. Other Ifo researchers also performed strongly in the ranking: Ludger Wößmann, Director of the Ifo Center for the Economics of Education and Innovation, ranked 4, Gabriel Felbermayr, Director of the Ifo Center for International Economics, ranked 29, Niklas Potrafke, Director of the Ifo Center for Public Finance and Political Economy, ranked 38, Marcel Thum, Executive Director of Ifo’s Dresden Branch, ranked 50, Klaus Wohlrabe, Coordinator of Ifo Business Surveys, ranked 52, and Joachim Ragnitz, Managing Director of Ifo Dresden, ranked 67.
