Since 2007 the results of the Ifo Investment Survey in manufacturing have been made available in summary form. More detailed results appear, as before, in ifo Schnelldienst (in German).

  1. Results of the Ifo Investment Survey for German manufacturing in Fall 2015

    German Manufacturing: Firms Plan to Increase Investment

    Mar 10, 2016: German manufacturing invested around 57 billion euros in new fixed assets in 2015, according to the results of the latest Ifo Investment Survey. This means that investments in manufacturing were thus 4 percent higher than in 2014. The real increase is around the same size due to the relatively stable prices for capital goods in 2015. This means that the level of investment made was lower than originally planned. Details

Survey design

In the framework of the Investment Survey, which is carried out bi-annually, the Ifo Institute collects data on trends in investment in German manufacturing and mining. In addition to trends in investment over the past two years, the survey also covers investment plans for 2013, as well as the main aims of investment
