The institutional framework of a country is based on its value system. This DICE field includes indicators that measure ethical values concerning the economy as a whole. The indicators are divided into four groups: peoples’ ethical values/opinions concerning markets, businesses and the economy, environmental values, values concerning science and technology and finally, ethical values related to the personal work environment.
The institutional framework of a country is defined not only by its economic values, but also by the ethical values of its citizens. This DICE field includes indicators that measure ethical values and opinions that concern the individual (for example, measures for the citizens’ happiness) and the family (for example, the importance of marriage as an institution and gender roles in a society).
Political systems define the institutions of a country. However, such systems can only function if citizens believe and trust in them. This DICE folder contains indicators that measure peoples’ trust in the political institutions of their countries and the EU system.
