Ifo President Hans-Werner Sinn explains the financial crisis
Last Monday, an overflow audience in the Grosse Aula of the University of Munich attended a Munich Seminar, a joint initiative of CESifo and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. A presentation by Ifo President Hans-Werner Sinn attracted nearly 1,000 interested listeners. Many stood crowded together; others sat on the stairs or in the aisles. Those who found no room inside listened attentively in the lobby of the Aula. Some students rolled out a banner on the balustrade protesting tuition fees but they too listened carefully. Professor Sinn commented that he appreciated the crowded atmosphere as it reminded him of his own student days in the late 1960s.
