Conference on "Taxation, Social Norms and Compliance

CESifo Research Network Fellow Matthias Wrede, a Professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, is pleased to announce that the Center for Economic Behavior and Institution Design (cebid) at Friedrich-Alexander-University (FAU) will hold a conference on “Taxation, Social Norms and Compliance” in March 6 – 8, 2014, in Nuremberg.

Prospective participants are invited to submit papers for presentation at the conference. The deadline is December 1, 2013.

World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economsts

CESifo Research Network Fellow Carlo Carraro announces that the 5th World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists (WCERE) will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, from June 28 to July 2, 2014. After Venice (1998), Monterey (2002), Kyoto (2006), and Montréal (2010), the profession will convene in this unique World Heritage city that straddles Europe and Asia.

Hosted by Istanbul Technical University (ITU), WCERE 2014 is jointly organized by the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE) and the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), in cooperation with the East Asian Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAAERE).

You are invited to submit theoretical and empirical papers in all areas of environmental and natural resource economics for presentation at the World Congress. Call for Papers

You are also invited to submit proposals for the organization of complete Thematic Sessions at WCERE 2014. Thematic sessions consist of three papers connected by a unifying theme. The theme is expected to be of interest to a relatively broad audience of environmental and resource economists. The individual papers are expected to be of very high quality, both with respect to scientific content and presentation.

Finally, you are invited to submit proposals for the organization of complete Policy Sessions at WCERE 2014. Policy Sessions aim to advance the application of environmental and resource economics in policy-making and to provide a forum of exchange between policy-makers and academics. Sessions are expected to be of interest to a broad audience of research economists. They will typically be formatted as formal presentations or as roundtable discussions. No papers are required. The Scientific Committee will select a limited number of proposed Policy Sessions based on significance and originality. The successful sessions will run in sequence as one session track during WCERE 2014.




Call for Papers for EcoMod2014, Bali, Indonesia

The next International Conference on Economic Modeling (EcoMod2014) will take place in Bali, Indonesia, on July 16-18, 2014. The conference will be hosted by Bank Indonesia (the Central Bank of Indonesia).

The goal of the conference is to promote the exchange of ideas and experience among economists conducting quantitative analysis for policy and decision-making in the public and private sectors. The conference will cover all areas of modeling applied to monetary, financial, fiscal, energy, environmental, labor, trade, and development issues.

You are cordially invited to submit your extended abstracts or full papers (preferred) before January 31, 2014.

The International Center for Climate Governance gives the 2013 ICCG Best Climate Practice Award to New York City’s Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliencye

Announcement of the winners of the 2013 Best Climate Practices Awards for “Climate Change and Urban Resilience. How to prepare our cities to respond to climate change-related challenges”. The competition, open to all urban resilience to climate change practices designed or implemented in 2012, was created as part of the ICCG Best Climate Practices observatory. The initiative aims to disseminate information on climate practices of particular worth in terms of originality and effectiveness.

On October 16th, Prof. Carlo Carraro, ICCG Director and President of the University Ca' Foscari of Venice, flew to New York to hand over the award to New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg.

The International Center for Climate Governance presents the video: “Climate change: everything you need to know about the IPCC 5th Assessment Report"

The publication of the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) is one of the most important events in the international debate on climate change in recent years. The Summary for Policymakers of the first part of the Report (the Working Group I contribution), concerning the physical science basis of climate change, was released on September 27th, 2013.
