Global Cooling
The Ifo Economic Forecast released this week says that the expansion of the world economy will decelerate perceptibly in 2008-2009: high energy prices and the credit crunch are taking their toll. The apex of the economic cycle seems to have been

Demographic Forerunner
What have Japan,
Germany, South Korea, Italy and Russia in common? That all show low birth

what if we don't? Should a paternalistic state intervene? What would the
tax incentives or disincentives look like in this case? A group of CESifo
researchers delved into these questions.

Significant Cooling of the Ifo Business Climate
The Ifo Business Climate Index for industry and trade in Germany fell markedly in June: the sharp hike in oil prices is evidently becoming an increasing burden on the German economy. The six-month outlook is less optimistic as well.
