Chinese Riddles
Bowing to pressure to revalue their currency, the renminbi, the Chinese abandoned their peg to the US dollar in 2005 and linked it to a basket of currencies. But, true to their inscrutable selves, they declined to reveal the weights assigned to each currency in the basket. Applying statistical tools to what reality in the market is showing, a team of researchers from the University of Hamburg found the likely evolution of the renminbi over time.
