Eurozone Economic Outlook: Expansion continues amid uncertainty
Economic expansion in the euro area will continue over the forecast horizon, but at a slower pace than in 2017. This is the key finding of the Eurozone Economic Outlook for July 2018. Detailed analyses, figures and tables can be found at our website.

ifo Business Climate Index Edges Downwards
The ifo Business Climate deteriorated marginally this month. The index fell to 101.7 points in July from 101.8 points in June. Companies were slightly more satisfied with their current business situation, but scaled back their business expectations slightly. The German economy continues to expand, but at a slower pace.

Inaugural Fiscal Policy Seminar of the German Ministry of Finance
The German Ministry of Finance is pleased to announce the call for papers for the 2018 Inaugural Fiscal Policy Seminar. The seminar will take place in Berlin on 13/14 December 2018. The theme of the 2018 seminar is “Rethinking Market Discipline” with a specific eye on the challenges of institutional design, for example within the European Monetary Union. Our objective is to bring together leading academics and policymakers to showcase frontier academic work that enhances our understanding of the interaction of market discipline, fiscal sustainability and financial resilience; identifying new questions in research, policy making, and institutional design along the way. Deadline for submission is 15 August 2018. More information is available here.
Third Dondena Workshop on Public Policy
The welfare state and taxation unit of the Dondena Centre for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policy is pleased to announce the third Dondena Workshop on public policy. This two-day workshop provides an opportunity for presentations and discussions about research on the design and impact of public policy on economic and social phenomena in an informal and highly interactive environment. This year we especially encourage submission of papers that examine how public policy affects labour market outcomes, educational choices, social mobility and intergenerational links. Keynote speakers are Gordon Dahl (UC San Diego) and Claudia Olivetti (Boston College). The deadline for submission of complete papers is 23 September 2018. Please submit your paper here.
